The German Leather Federation

Who we are

The German Leather Federation or V D L after it´s German name 
( Verband der Deutschen Lederindustrie e.V. ) is the trade association of the leather producing industry in Germany.

The VDL represents the economic, political and technical interests of it´s members towards the government, other authorities and related industries.

The VDL is the competent partner for the leather industry and provides various services to it´s members.

What we do

Among our main fields of activity are:

  • research, environment, standardization

  • hide market, hide improvement

  • economic issues, leather promotion

  •  foreign trade, fairs, statistics, market data

  • European and International Association

The VDL is member of the European Tanners Confederation COTANCE in Brussels as well as the International Council of Tanners (ICT) located in the U.K.

The VDL is a member of the BDI, the Confederation of German Industry, in Berlin.

The VDL is located in Frankfurt/Main.
